Mother-Ease Cloth Diapers

Cloth diapers have changed a lot over the years.  Prefolds with safety pins and a plastic diaper cover are definitely not the standard option anymore!

I purchased my first stash of cloth diapers when I was expecting Lucas.  I was a bit overwhelmed by all the options, especially because I didn't know anyone using cloth diapers so I couldn't hear the pros and cons of the different options first-hand.  After reading a few reviews I settled on Mother-Ease (ME) One-Size cloth diapers with the Air Flow covers.  Later, I threw in a few of their small Sandy's diapers since the one-size dipes are a bit big for the first few months.  ME diapers were touted as virtually leak-proof, reasonably priced, and they hold up well for using with multiple children in a row.  They may not be the cutest or most stylish diapers on the market, but they served us very well for several years!  In fact, since Lucas and Destany were just 21 months apart, they were both in diapers at the same time for quite a while.  I loved that I could literally grab any diaper in the changing table and put it on either child.  Only the covers were different sizes, but I marked them well and they were easy to grab also.

Keandre is using our old ME diapers for naptime and overnight now, and I have to admit that although they're getting a little worn out, I feel a bit sentimental about these dipes. My sister and both sisters-in-law here in AZ are cloth converts now also, so I'm looking into fun new options for this next baby, but I'm having a hard time thinking about getting rid of our tried-and-true ME diapers, at least for Keandre. Poofy bums are in, right?

If you're interested, here is one Mama's story about converting to cloth diapersThere are lots of other fun stories on that site, too, so if you're a CD mama, or are interested in becoming one, check it out!

hmmmmmmmmm, leak-proof. We use fuzzibunz and happy heiny around these parts and my poor fuzzibunz have stripped elatic. They are such a pain to fix, that I've been lazy about it and they leak if I don't get him changed right away. Bt then again, I bought them used and have use them for all three boys. (We made the switch when Xander was 2 and Keegan was 3m). I might have to try some motherease, especially if you say they can last all night...

Hello Kiara,
I am glad to see others who use cloth diapers. You could have talked to me. I used them from the start too. I didn't know you were checking into them. I had a few different brands. Yes, we had some nice ones with velcro and elastic, actually from two different companies, but we also had two types of old-fashioned cloth ones. Some were prefolded and others were the huge rectancles that you fold and fold and fold. Jerry and I definitely prefered the velcro to the pins, but we had both. Oh the memories! I am glad we are done with that stage of life. Believe it or not, we are now dealing with puberty for both our boys! Yikes. --Sandy

My sister Liz told me that you and Annie and then Sarah & Ian have all been to Wildflower. Yes, these are not your mothers cloth diapers. There are so many different styles to chose from.

Hey Heather --

Yeah, it might be time for new diapers. (fun!) It is a pain when they leak, and since leaking is optional, it's just not worth it! :) We were happy with the ME dipes -- especially at night with a couple extra liners tucked in under the snap-in liner. (For daytime, they are much poofier than the newer diapers, so they don't fit as well under clothes.) I bought many of mine second-hand, used them for two kids full time, and they are getting thin but still work well. Get a few new and you'll probably be very happy with them! :)

Hi Sandy -- I didn’t realize you used cloth diapers, but it doesn’t surprise me! :) I never used prefolds, but hear they’re super easy with the fun covers that are available now – and no need for pins! I will probably try a few at some point, to stretch our stash if needed, but I’m excited about AIOs and AI2s right now. So convenient!

Hey Roxanne -- I knew you have a sister, but I didn't realize you are twins, so it was just crazy seeing your sister there! LOL She was so sweet and helpful. I will definitely be returning to Wildflower at some point. :)

Those pictures are adorable! I used ME dipes and Air-Flows with my first two, and I loved them. I started branching out and trying different dipes, but I always kept my original dipes. Hard to believe we're through with that stage...
